Vision

“I will do everything in my power to make city government responsive to its people, and Bellingham a model to the region.”

When I imagine Bellingham in 50 years, I see a city that has realized all
of our dreams. I see a city that has been built around the needs of its
people – a rich mix of vibrant urban centers and sleepy neighborhoods,
woven together by the best system of greenways, trails, and bike paths
in the country; a city that has grown up, but retains small-town quality
of life. I envision a place that reflects the foresight and love that we, as
a community, invest today.

I am running for Bellingham City Council, At-Large because I believe that I can help make this happen.



			Strong, responsive leadership and citizen participation I will do everything in my power to make City Hall responsive to its people.		I am known for listening to all sides and then leading on the tough issues even if I have to stick my neck out politically. We have an absolute treasure in the active citizens of Bellingham. City Hall must listen, and be responsive to them.



			Growing well I will lead the effort to identify and guarantee the preservation and improvement of the Bellingham we love.		We’ll use clean growth as a means to improve our city. I’ll lead a sensible, rational process for identifying those areas and attributes we wish to preserve and those we wish to improve. We’ll use those improvements as opportunites for economic and cultural growth.



			Economic vitality Our city government will foster local businesses, living wage jobs and affordable housing.		We will develop our downtown, cultural district and neighborhood centers to be places people and businesses WANT to be. They will be,linked by greenways and sensible transportation options a promote clean, desireable, easily accessed business centers.



			A clean Lake Whatcom I will continue to support all reasonable measures for the long-term protection of our lake.		I will work with all agencies, jurisdictions, and lake neighbors to move forward with all reasonable measure to stop and reverse the decline of our source of drinking water before it is too late.
